Departure and Arival. First day in NY ^^

well after saying my last goodbye in 'De Steeg' I still had time to squeeze in a few hours of sleep..2 at the mos:P but hey, It's me we're talking about, i have had to make due with far less :P

My birds are safely stored away at my sister's place by the way, so they get to enjoy a little Holiday of their own ^^

Mom and Gezinus picked me up at home and then we were off to Schiphol. We had to be there 3 hours in advance, so after all the inchecking and all the goodbyes we were off to our departure hall. Had to flash our passports and tickets a lot of times. I went through customs with Patrick and they even asked us how long we've known each other. All very strict!

Once in the plain I tried to get some shut eye. Managed that for a few hours. waking every 30 minutes or so, but I still managed to squeeze in a good movie and then it was almost time to begin the descent.

At JFK we had to go through customs again and they scanned our fingers and made beautiful mugshots.
After all the formalities we took a cab to our hostel, which by the way is lovely.
I'll add some pictures of our hostel at a later time, probably on FB. we were greeted by the owner who gave us a small packet with all information which we might be needing and then showed us to our rooms.

After we were all settled in our rooms and had a quick shower we took a quick look in the neighborhood to see where everything we might need was. Patrick, Wouter, Timon and me decided to go for a quick coffee..... which became quick beer... at the pub around the corner
The beer came in quite hard...probably because we didn't have that much to eat the entire day.

After getting back together with our group we decided to go out for dinner, but it was raining...so we decided to go to the bar around the corner for some grubb.
Had a great meal and another beer and then we decided to go to bed early. So 9 o'clock we went to bed and tried to get some sleep for the next day
